BUPA: Intranet scoping

How Bupa is joining up its global operations

Challenge

In just two decades, Bupa has grown to become a global healthcare partner with 10 million customers in 190 countries and over 50,000 staff.

But this rapid growth has also brought challenges; not least the huge number of different email systems, intranets and applications across the Group's global operations. Bupa's ambition was to create one joined-up global portal that would connect all their businesses and enable them to share expertise and intellectual capital across the Group.

Our response

In a deep-dive analysis, our content strategists looked at Bupa’s business requirements, user needs, the Group’s existing content and best practice. From this wealth of research data, they designed a new system from the ground up including a detailed content strategy – what content should go on the site, where it should sit, who would be responsible for it and how it would be managed – a new information architecture for global and local access and a clear roadmap for roll-out.

Result

Bupa's IT and internal communications teams now have the blueprint they need to construct a single, unified system and a robust business case to secure funding from the board.
