Tony BeresfordHead of Design, Corporate Publishing
What has been your most memorable job for Redhouse Lane?
BA News for the Benefits Agency was one of the funniest magazines we've done – it never took itself too seriously and always had a riotous letters page.
From the newsstand, what's the best-looking magazine and why?
I always look forward to the Christmas issue of the Radio Times. It reminds me of being a kid.

What makes a good staff magazine?
Don't make them too corporate or overloaded with business messages. Readers need to feel that they are magazines to enjoy – not something that preaches or dictates to them.
Why should people still be interested in magazines when we have the internet?
There are merits to both – I get a lot of the information I need from the internet, but I wouldn't want to sit on a beach or in the garden with a laptop. I think people like the feel of magazines and books too much for us to ever really see them in decline.
What magazines do you read for pleasure?
I’ve never missed an issue of Empire.
Outside of magazines, but sticking with the visuals, do you have a favourite building?
The New York Public library – though that may have a lot to do with the fact that it features in the opening scenes of Ghostbusters.
What job would you be doing if you weren't a designer?
My grandma was always rooting for me to follow my dad into the building trade. I think she was hoping to see Beresford & Son vans all over Derbyshire. I just wanted to be a helicopter pilot.
Who is your favourite famous Tony and why?
Tony the Tiger of course, because he's grrrrreat!
