Keeping on the road for longer

The old adage, “prevention is better than cure” is as true today as it has ever been. In fact the Department of Health has just launched a package for older people, focusing on prevention as the way to ensure good health, well-being and independence in later life.

It encourages uptake of comprehensive health and social care services for older people, from eye tests to flu vaccinations. Combining these with keeping physically active, eating a healthy diet and maintaining a healthy weight will help you increase your chances of enjoying a healthy and happy later life.

In partnership with Age Concern and Help The Aged, the Department commissioned Redhouse Lane to design the key public facing communications. The information leaflet, headlined ‘Keeping on the road for longer’, features a distinctive, quirky illustration with a retro feel designed to appeal to the target audiences. It shows a range of people over 50 actively enjoying life and, thanks to taking advantage of health checks and services, staying well and active.
