Clean bill of health for Tavistock and Portman
The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust has received top-class treatment from the Redhouse Lane digital design team.
The trust, which provides mental healthcare, education courses and development, was looking for a revamp of its website to attract new users and make information more accessible to existing users.
The new-look website – which you can find at www.tavi-port.org – provides an attractive, user-friendly way for the trust to communicate its expertise.
It does this through reflecting the people who use the site, says Redhouse Lane’s interactive project manager Tolu Legunsen, so they have the information they need, right where they need it.
“The team conducted an audit of the existing content on their website,” says Tolu. “We then created user journeys and personas to identify the different types of visitors to the site: what sort of people they are, why they are visiting and what content they are looking for.”
Once the team had this information, they set about ‘mapping’ the site to make the visitor’s journey as simple and clear as possible.
“We used our research to produce a detailed information architecture – a comprehensive site map that showed the various sections, subsections and content pages. We then tested this on the types of users we identified,” says Tolu.
The finished site not only has major improvements in user experience, but a bright new design to replace the previous look.
