Major branding project for Business Stream (a Scottish Water company)

Following a four way competitive presentation, design and communications group Redhouse Lane has been awarded a contract for the rebranding and launch activity of Business Stream (a Scottish Water company).

In 2008, the first stage of deregulation in the Scottish Water market will take place, when the supply of water to business customers will be opened to retail competition. Scottish Water will retain the assets and industry infrastructure and the responsibility for domestic supply, but will supply water wholesale to entrants to the market who will then be able to sell on to Scottish business.

In advance of the 1 April launch date, Scottish Water has formed a new stand-alone company, currently operating as Business Stream, which is already responsible for business supply billing services but will become an independent retail operation selling water services to Scotland's 130,000 businesses once the change-over takes place.

As part of the pre-launch stage of this process, the board of Business Stream has asked Redhouse Lane to carry out a full evaluation and rebranding process aimed at providing the business with a dynamic new image ready for the new competitive market conditions.

The first stage of a major research and evaluation exercise has already begun and a new identity will be developed over the next few weeks before being rolled out across all areas of operation.

The Business Stream review process was led by Marketing Manager Duncan Mackay, who said "Part of the reason for appointing Redhouse Lane was that their proposal was strong in terms of previous utility and business to business experience, together with potential for wider provision of marketing services in future."

Redhouse Lane Scotland Managing Director Steve Mills commented "We are absolutely delighted to have won such an interesting and important piece of work and we are really looking forward to working with the team at Business Stream. This is a significant change for Scottish business and we are immensely proud to be able to help develop the image and profile for Business Stream. I believe we can create an innovative and creative design solution and the implementation programme will allow us to utilise our comprehensive cross-channel skills."
